Granite Peak Ski area, situated on 200 acres, offers 68 trails, four terrain parks, and plenty of tree snowboarding options. The hills rise to 700 vertical feet and equipped with one of the Midwest’s most modern lift systems that includes the state’s only high-speed six-pack and two high-speed quads. Granite Peak accommodates beginners to Diamond level skill sets.
In 1924, the Wausau Kiwanis Club donated a few acres to Wisconsin, and in turn, the state acquired another 120 acres to form Rib Mountain, State Park. Wisconsin portioned some of the acres to create a ski area in 1936. Today, Rib Mountain State Park expands to 1,600 acres, with 400 acres dedicated to Granite Peak Ski Area.
