If the fifteen trails on Heartwood Resort’s pristine 700 acres don’t satisfy your wanderlust, there are three great hiking trails nearby in Trego.
The Trego Lake Trail consists of three loops that total 3.6 miles. To find this trailhead go north of Trego on Highway 53, turn left on North River Road, go two miles and you’ll find a parking lot on the south side of the road. The Trego Nature Trail offers a three-mile trek that begins by the Namekagon River Bridge on Highway 63, about 1.4 miles east of the St. Croix Riverway Visitor Center. The third and longest is the 4.5 mile trail through the Hunt Hill Nature Center and Audubon Sanctuary. This trail offers a variety of prairies, bogs, and forests. Parking for this trail is available at the Hill Hunt Nature Center and Audubon Sanctuary which is open from 9-5.
